'It can't be reckless. It's got to be calculated aggression,' Gavaskar advised. 'Occasionally it goes wrong, but calculated aggression is key.' He provides a practical example, suggesting that if a batter has scored 12 runs in an over with two or three sixes and a boundary, they should not attempt to take on the fielders, as it might lead to an early dismissal.
Gavaskar also offers insights into India's team composition for the Pakistan match, advocating for Washington Sundar's inclusion to strengthen the spin attack. He believes Sundar can bat down the order and provide crucial runs in the latter overs. 'You want some 18-20 runs in three overs, and someone like Washington Sundar can get those 20-30 runs,' Gavaskar explained. 'Arshdeep has been a fine bowler, but I'd like to see Hardik Pandya and Bumrah as the new ball bowlers, with spinners coming in later.'
