ITV sparks a UK entertainment ratings war as the first episode of 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' beats 'Celebrity Traitors'.
Despite generating non-stop buzz, 'Celebrity Traitors' couldn't match the ratings of ITV's 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!'. The stalwart show launched to an impressive 6.6 million viewers, with a peak of 7.3 million viewers around the halfway mark. This introduction of this year's contestants happened after 9 p.m. GMT (1 p.m. PT).
'Celebrity Traitors' launched to 6.1 million viewers last month, trailing behind by around 500,000 viewers. However, it grew significantly throughout its run, ending with a record-breaking 11 million viewers, a feat that will be challenging for 'I'm a Celebrity' to surpass when it concludes in three weeks. While 'I'm a Celebrity' typically faces stiff competition from BBC One's 'Strictly Come Dancing', which launched to 5.4 million viewers in late September, it has since grown its audience despite the recent departure of presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.
ITV boasted that last night's episode was the "biggest entertainment launch on any channel this year" and attracted the network's largest 16-34-year-old audience since the Euros soccer tournament in 2024.
This year's 'I'm a Celeb' features rapper Aitch, comedian Ruby Wax, and Ozzy Osbourne's son Jack Osbourne. The show's unique format involves contestants being gradually eliminated as they endure gruesome bushtucker trials throughout its daily run.
